In 2005 Dan Grant and Mike O'Brien faced Deb Nielson and Jim Sandham for the first time. Knowing they'd lose if they had to defend their own records,( Download Taxes_just_right, and Download OBrienNotALlotOfMoney ) they dove right into the gutter with a campaign they called "Fear Factor".
Mimicking the style of the Nielson/Sandham signs, Grant and O'Brien shamelessly charged that their opponents would "increase development" and "increase traffic". Montville voters saw through the lies and elected Nielson and Sandham by a large margin.
